Rethinking Economics Sweden in cooperation with Katalys, Positiva Pengar, Samhällsvetenskapliga föreningen and Socialdemokratiska studentklubben i Stockholm proudly presents an exclusive lunch seminar with Ann Pettifor. Ann predicted the global financial crisis and has written extensively about the financial system. She is a director of Policy Research in Macroeconomics (PRIME), a member of the Green New Deal Group and an advisor to the British Labour Party.
Pettifor’s book, The Production of Money – How to break the power of bankers, was released in 2017 to rave reviews. As former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis put it:
“Ann Pettifor was always the ideal author of a book that shatters the fantasy of apolitical money and the toxic myth that monetary policy must remain a democracy-free zone.”
The Swedish print issue, with a preface by Stockholm School of Economics Associate Professor Markus Kallifatides, can be reserved at https://verbalforlag.se/bocker/produktionen-av-pengar/.
Ann’s deep knowledge of the inner workings of the banking system are especially topical at a point in time when Nordic banks, including Swedbank, have been accused of money laundering.
